About HSMC

HSMC is a nice little health and safety consultancy with its main office just off the M5 near Tewkesbury. We operate nationwide from Cornwall to Dundee.

Adam heads up the company and has worked in health and safety in sectors ranging from the automotive and food industries to agriculture and retail. He collects professional memberships with a passion verging on mania, with the current tally including: Chartered Member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Member of the British Society of Audiology and Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers. He also has a degree in something, mainly proving that it is possible for man to live on chips and chocolate for 3 years.

Wage-slave number two is Kevin. Kevin spent many years being on the receiving end of health and safety, working as a production manager faced with the responsibility for implementing the schemes dreamt up by his slightly deranged health and safety manager. He has now switched to the dark side and works on audiometry, noise assessments, training and general health and safety gubbins.

In an effort to save money, this man lives almost entirely on roadkill.
We try to let him out once a year but last time he chased a rat down
a hole shouting 'be my friend' at it and had to be rescued by a fireman.

Marty takes care of all the admin. needs. She keeps us on the straight and narrow, making sure we turn up where we're supposed to be, making sure quotes and invoices are done and keeps an (unnecessarily tight) hand on the hotel costs, usually arranging hotels with views of motorways, gas works or brick walls, which is lovely. Marty holds a BA, which is OK, although not as good as a B.Sc. if we're being honest...

David Mark 1 is our financial guru and he takes care of all money things and the financial dark arts. He has a beard.

David Mark 2 joined us in 2008. In a previous life David worked for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs so please feel free to abuse him at your leisure, indeed gratuitous use of rotten fruit would not be considered inappropriate for his association with all things tax-enforcement. Within HSMC David is dedicated to audiometry. And remember, HMRC = bad, HSMC = good.

The latest lost soul to darken our doorstep is Neil. Neil has had a varied life, including a spell working in social services and more recently has been living in France single-handedly supporting the French wine industry, (entire vineyards are reported to be mourning his departure). Neil works full time on audiometry, with a little bit of noise training thrown in for good measure.

Maia is a dog, but don't tell her that. She has taken it upon herself to defend the office from what she views as the evil postman who comes to torment her every morning, then she spends the rest of the day generally overseeing operations with a vaguely propriatorial air. If you hear snoring when you telephone it is most likely her. Or Adam.

HSMC do not contract out work ordered by our clients meaning when you deal with us you really are dealing with us and not another third party.

HSMC are happy to travel to all parts of the UK. We have clients all over the UK including Southampton, Brighton, Skegness, Pembrokeshire, Leicester, Dundee, Birmingham, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Cardiff and Anglesey, along with some small southern place called London. The more pleasant and agreeable the location the better the position clients are in for negotiating over price. As a guide: Skegness for two weeks in February was not agreeable.
