Risk Assessment Training
Risk Assessment is now found in almost all current health and safety legislation but despite its image it need not be a burden on an organisation or completed at increased costs by external personnel. This course explains the principles of risk assessment and via the use of a series of practical elements develops the attendee's knowledge and experience of the subject, giving them the necessary knowledge and ability to conduct risk assessments in their own workplace.

Risk Assessment Training: course content
| Introduction |
Introduction
to the principles which support the risk assessment process including the legislative background, the ethos of it and the concept of 'reasonably practicable'. |
The Risk Assessment
Process |
Explanation of the process itself - how to complete an assessment. Starting with arranging your general approach, the type of assessment (such as by job, by risk, by area, by subject, etc.), and how to structure an assessment. |
| Practical Risk Assessment |
Time is then spent doing some risk assessments with the attendees working in pairs or small groups and completing a series of them. A review is then held of what they have identified and how they felt with the process |
| Corrective Actions |
We review the control hierarchy present in most current health and safety legislation and then put this into practice by the attendees using it to determine recommended corrective actions for the risk assessments they conducted during the practical exercise. |
| Summary |
A review of the process and a short verbal test/question and answer session to ensure they have understood the key concepts. |
In the following weeks and months attendees will usually begin to be involved in the risk assessment process in their workplace. All attendees are then welcome to e-mail, fax or post their draft risk assessments to us where we will review them and help point them in the right direction if required. We are also happy for any previous course attendees to telephone us for assistance should they encounter a problem during a workplace risk assessment which they cannot resolve. There is no charge for this ongoing support.
